Memo & to-do
A simple to-do list saved in your browser.
Notes are stored only in this browser and never sent to a server. They are removed if you clear your browser data.
Sometimes you need somewhere to park six things for the next two hours, and installing a task manager with projects, tags, and a subscription is absurd overkill. This is a list. You type a thing, it stays there, you tick it off. It survives a page reload, which is the one feature a scratch pad on a sticky note lacks.
How it works
Using the list
Type into the box and press Add or hit Enter — Enter is quicker when you are dumping several items in a row. Each task appears with a checkbox and a × to delete it outright.
Ticking the checkbox marks a task done and greys it out; it stays visible so you can see what you have got through. Clear completed removes all the ticked items in one go and leaves the rest untouched.
The line at the bottom keeps a running count: Total, Done, and Left.
Where your list is stored
Tasks are saved in your browser's local storage on this device. In practice that means:
- The list is still there after a reload, and after closing and reopening the browser.
- Nothing is sent to a server. There is no account and no sync.
- The list does not follow you to another device or another browser. A list made on your laptop will not appear on your phone.
- Clearing your browsing data, or using private/incognito mode, wipes it.
That trade-off is deliberate — no sign-up, nothing to leak — but it does mean this is a scratch pad rather than a system of record. If a task genuinely matters, keep it somewhere that syncs and backs up.
Terms explained
- Add
- Puts the typed text on the list. Pressing Enter in the input box does the same thing.
- Clear completed
- Deletes every ticked task at once. Unticked tasks stay put.
- Left
- How many tasks remain unticked — the count that actually matters at a glance.
- Local storage
- The browser's own small storage area on your device. It is where this list lives, and it never leaves your machine.
Frequently asked questions
Will my list still be there tomorrow?
Yes, on the same device in the same browser. It is saved in your browser's local storage, which survives reloads and restarts. It will be gone if you clear your browsing data or were browsing in private mode.
Can I see the same list on my phone and my laptop?
No. The list is stored on each device separately with no account or sync, so a list created on one browser will not appear in another. That is the cost of needing no sign-up.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Everything stays in your browser and nothing is transmitted to a server, so nobody else can read the list — including the site.
How do I get a finished task off the screen?
Tick it and press Clear completed to remove all ticked items at once, or press the × next to a single task to delete it immediately without ticking it first.
I lost my list. Can it be recovered?
Unfortunately not. With nothing stored on a server there is no backup to restore from. If a list matters beyond the next few hours, copy it into a notes app that syncs.
